Overview
GreenVeil Packaging Inc. is pioneering ultra-biodegradable and antimicrobial materials that extend food shelf life and eliminate plastic waste. Our proprietary mineral–biopolymer composites combine high strength, controlled degradability, and environmental safety, positioning GreenVeil at the forefront of cleantech and circular packaging innovation.
Our multidisciplinary R&D team operates from the University of Ottawa’s Advanced Research Complex, with access to over 30 core facilities including the MatChar Analytical Facility. Expertise in materials science, microbiology, chemical engineering, and photonics drives the development and validation of GreenVeil’s proprietary composites.
With support from Community Futures Grenville, we have secured an industrial space at Kemptville for pilot-scale production, the first facility in Ontario focused on soil-safe, antimicrobial trays. To date, GreenVeil has raised over $400,000 through a mix of founder investment and programs such as CFDC Grenville, IRAP CONNECT, IDEA Fund, Mitacs Accelerate Entrepreneur, Invest Ottawa’s IP Assist, and several competition pitches. A provisional patent (2025) protects the composition, process, and antimicrobial integration of our technology.
Market Opportunity
The global sustainable packaging market exceeds USD 350 billion. GreenVeil targets the growing food and agricultural packaging sectors, offering cost-effective, high-performance materials that replace petroleum-based plastics while supporting soil health and circular manufacturing.
Each tonne of GreenVeil material replaces over three tonnes of plastic waste. After degradation, wollastonite minerals release calcium and silicon, enriching soil and promoting plant growth. GreenVeil’s process creates local manufacturing jobs, reduces food waste, and strengthens Canada’s sustainable bioeconomy.
